Still shaking, he started walking down the road, still having no idea what the hell he planned on doing. All of him was screaming inside to go and tear Giovanni to bits, he hated him. The worst thing was wasn't that he had just slept with Roxy even, it was just the basic feeling of trust and love he'd had for his maker, and it was dead. Gone. It might come back eventually, but right now it didn't feel like it. Half way down a road he kicked a trash can over, didn't make him feel any better. "Fuck!" He shouted, only noticing after a second or two the group of young humans watching him, half wary, half curious.
Usually he world have stormed off, but tonight was different, obviously. Danni lifted his lip, bared his fangs, and snarled. There may have been five of them and one of him, but their basic humans instincts informed them that he wasn't human, and fully intended on killing them if they got close. When they were frozen to the spot, he paused for a second, before snarling louder, probably one of the most scary and threatening sounds he had ever made. The two girls screamed for a second and then started to run off, the guys torn between sorting him out and running. In the end they ran off with their girls, figuring it was the safest thing to do.
He was at a loss for what to do. Usually he would've gone to Giovanni to talk about this, but considering he was the guy who had just slept with Roxy, it made it a non usual situation. Shoving his hands into his jean pockets, he kept walking till he got back to their apartment, and just stood outside the door. He'd been standing there ten minutes when one of their neighbours muttered a half hearted insult at him being a catatonic dork or something. Okay, if he'd been silent he could ignore him, but not with that little comment. Danni span round, one hand wrapped around the other guy's throat instantly, and shoved him up against the wall, high enough that his feet were probably a foot from the ground.
"What was that?"
He asked calmly, in that way people do when they're about to do something horrific to you. Instantly it seemed the cocky idiot realised that right now Danni was not to be messed with, and with his fangs showing and his pale skin, he hardly looked human either. His neighbour started a choking, panicked apology, giving up struggling after a moment when he realised Danni's grip wasn't giving at all. As soon as the guy had apologised, he dropped him to the ground, not even knowing why he had snapped like that. Seeing a guy probably twice his size staring up at him in absolute terror was odd, and it wasn't even satisfying like it used to be. Sighing, probably the last thing the other guy expected to hear, he walked to the front door again, this time going back inside.
The first thing that came to his head was that he didn't want to be here if Roxy tried to come back to patch things up. The childish part of him was saying that he never wanted to see her again, whether as the oh so slightly more adult part said that he didn't want to see her for a while. Even he couldn't forgive her that quickly over something like this. He had swiped his car keys from the counter top and almost made it to the door before he even really knew what he was doing.
Holding the keys tightly in his hand, it took a while for the sensation of pain to register, long enough that they had nearly cut into his palm before he'd relaxed his grip. Danni span round at the feeling of another life close by him, only to see that it was Roxy's cat Lorelai. He sighed, not bothering to resist the urge of talking to the cat. "I better leave you out some food or something, Roxy might not come back for a little while." He may have been pissed off and extremely hurt, but he wasn't past caring about what happened to the cat. After all, she was always nice to him. Danni quickly left her out something, before walking hurriedly to the front door, snatching his jacket as he went.
"Danni." Giovanni said softly as his fledgling marched through the door, split down the middle to regards of following him or letting him be. It would probably be kinder to give him space first, plus the fact that he wasn't stupid. In this mood Danni wasn't past seriously injuring him, or himself if Giovanni fought back just enough to stop him. Getting up after a second, suppressing the feeling of utter despair and sadness at what he'd done to someone he loved, and to Roxy and Danni's relationship, he quietly went over to Roxy.
If she hated him he wouldn't blame her, he just couldn't believe that he'd been reckless enough to kiss her. It would definitely be the last time he went seriously drinking for awhile. Sitting down next to her, he stared at the wall opposite, inwardly panicking whilst outwardly he seemed calm and almost out of it. Oh god. Fuck, shit. Why couldn't I just have gone out... This was bad. Really bad.
This was definitely an all-time low feeling for Roxy. never before had she felt this horrible in her entire life. Though she had basically just done one of the worst things she could ever do with Giovanni, Roxy was glad that she came and sat next to her.
Without even realizing it, Roxy leaned next to him, gently resting her head on his shoulder. She didn't mean it in anyway other than being friends, of course. Roxy didn't hate him, at all. It was both of their faults; they made a mistake. At that moment, Roxy had only Giovanni, and her father, who was thousands of miles away, so she really only had Giovanni. She didn't even have Lorelai, who had been there for her whenever and wherever she needed it. She couldn't go back to their apartment, even if Danni wasn't there. She just could do it. Roxy sighed, shivering slightly from the emotions dampening her spirits.
--Time Skip To A Few Weeks Later, Just After Sundown, In The Streets--
For the first time in what seemed like years, Roxy had gone outside, allowing the moonlight to spill over her pearly skin. She didn't look too healthy or happy, but she needed fresh air. For the past few weeks, she'd been staying in Giovanni's apartment, almost never leaving Danni's old bedroom, which she pretended wasn't his, except when Giovanni would occasionally drag her out, or come in to talk to her, just to make sure that she was remotely all right.
Roxy had fed, but still that didn't help. She had the skin of someone with the flu. Roxy hadn't dressed properly at all, which was surprising. It was almost snowing outside, yet she stumbled out of the apartment building wearing a pair of black, baggy sweatpants, a tank top, a zip-up sweatshirt only zipped halfway, and a pair of knit black boots that she had forgotten when she'd helped Danni move out. Her eyes were dull gray, missing their normal luster.Roxy only wore a minuscule amount of mascara and eyeliner, not even caring. The corners of Roxy's lips were turned slightly downward in a frown as she walked in the night, watching as her breath danced in front of her.
Since he had stormed from his old apartment, away from Giovanni and Roxy, he hadn't seen either of them. Though he had caught Giovanni's scent in the streets from time to time, although that really had only been in the last few days, he'd actually left the city for roughly a week, and so hadn't been around for either of them to bump into. Danni hadn't done anything drastic, but his skin was warm to the touch, and he looked just as human as if he were. That was probably because he'd been feeding on two or three people a night, every night for the last week or so. Anyone who hadn't known him when he was human, and that totaled to about one, would be in for a hell of a shock. Still angry and now having that mixed with moody but mild depression, he looked so young, barely twenty one maybe.
In this cold he had come out wearing a one-size-too-big black leather bikers jacket, straight cut and slimmer fitting around the waist and hips. Below that he was just wearing a pair of dark blue jeans, a subtle sign that he wasn't bothering all that much with his appearance, and a pair of buckled black ankle boots with short heels. All he'd done with his hair was to push it back after having woken up and showered, and so it sort of had a fluffy look to it. The collar of his jacket was pulled up as if he were actually cold, but really he was only mimicking the feelings of a living person, his hands buried into the deep wool lined pockets. He could have disappeared into the crowd, which he was sort of currently doing, mostly because he wasn't paying attention.
It might have only been just after sun down, but he had already fed on three different people, though only enough to satisfy his thirst, not nearly enough to kill them, or even leave them more than slightly light headed. But the amount that he had been taking from people lately...it was leaving him with an odd disorientated feeling, even with the fact that he was unhappy. Looking up from the frosted pavement, he caught sight of Roxy. His first, automatic reaction was to be extremely concerned and run over and get her in somewhere warm. Or...something. And then the feelings that had been swirling around him for the last few weeks kicked in, and he felt slightly savage about the fact that he cared. Sighing to himself silently, he could feel the many different parts of his mind and thoughts having an argument with each other as to what to do.
Without even being able to come to a decision properly, he found himself going over to her, not just walking still, but actually going over. Quiet in the way he moved, he took one hand out of his pockets, stopping for a brief moment to think. "Come on." He said flatly, his voice devoid of all its usual enthusiasm and excitement about everything. Linking his arm with hers, suppressing all the darker feelings he had about what she'd done, he led her into the nearest warm cafe', to one of the tables close to the window. He ordered them both a cup of coffee, and sat down opposite her, thinking of what he intended to say.
Roxy had been staring down at the ground as she walked along the sidewalk, mulling so many things over in her mind. She hadn't seen or heard from Danni, and she hadn't seen or heard anything about him. She worried about him a lot. Roxy hadn't been able to do anything since that night. She hadn't been able to play music, write music, or write anything for that matter. She couldn't sing without getting frustrated. Roxy couldn't even take a decent picture.
When Danni walked in front of Roxy, she didn't even notice, until she heard a voice. At first she didn't recognize it, until she looked up, her curly hair falling back behind her shoulders, at which point she still didn't recognize him for a moment. "Oh," Roxy said softly as he linked arms with her and dragged her into a cafe, "Okay." She sat down and sat there in silence as he ordered coffee, not even aware of what he was doing. Roxy had a minor panic attack. Shit! He found her. What was she going to say. Taking an unnoticeable deep breath as Danni sat back down opposite from her, Roxy rested her hands on the table, pulling the sleeves of her black sweatshirt up around her hands more. "Um," she said, pausing for only a moment. "You look good," Roxy told him quietly, looking at him sitting across from her.
He had thought about hurting himself, maybe diving off of a tall bridge or something to see what would happen. Or even stepping in front of a lorry. Though he had tried that one years ago, and the outcome was never all that nice or final. And the real honest reason he hadn't done it? Well there were sort of two. He had lacked the motivation to do anything lately, let alone try to kill himself, and well...he at least wanted to see Roxy first before he did anything drastic. Danni didn't actually intend on drinking the coffee in front of him, he just wanted to have it in his hands, nice and hot. Although the warmth of his skin...he didn't really need anything to warm himself up.
He had been staring at the coffee, reminded of the time when a woman in Italy had caught him doing that, and had asked whether he thought it was going to reveal the future or something. And yet the amusing memory wasn't enough to even make him smile. Upon hearing Roxy, he looked up at her, his usually bright blue eyes dull and dark, holding only a faint shimmer that hinted at the fact that he wasn't human. Wasn't alive. "Thanks." He replied numbly, his half blank expression not matching his words. After another moment he looked back down at the swirling coffee, looking as if he were going to sit there in silence for another half an hour or something.
But instead he looked up after another few moments, shifting slightly in his seat so that he was sitting up a bit more. Taking a slightly deeper breath himself than before, he started speaking. "I'm not saying everything's okay...it isn't. But we can't leave it like this." Danni went quiet again, trying to work out just what they were supposed to do. He didn't really want to forgive her, but he knew he had to and...shit. He was just gonna have to say it wasn't he? Taking another deep breath, he decided just to talk and worry about it afterwards. "I love you Roxy, despite....all this. I just don't know what to do about it." His voice was soft, steady but emotionless, like he was having to stay disorientated just so that he didn't get angry or hysterically upset.
Roxy sat there at stared at her cup of coffee during the times that Danni didn't speak. This was so incredibly awkward for her, she didn't know what to do. She knew Danni was extremely hurt, and she was extremely guilty. Roxy felt like she couldn't fix the situation at all, and she could tell that Danni was incredibly uncomfortable.
Roxy listened to what he was saying, though she showed no emotional reaction to it. We can't leave it like this? No, HE couldn't leave it like this. Roxy was the one who was trying to get ahold of him to sort things out. He was the one who stormed out of the apartment. But again...SHE was the one who slept with his best friend. Oooh. Roxy sat there, listening to his 'I love you', staring at the cup in front of her. When he stopped talking, she paused for a moment, and then ran her fingers through her curly hair, covering her eyes with her arms long enough for him not to see her blink back tears. She looked at him.
"I know you don't want to hear this, but just hear me out for two seconds. I was drinking that night, okay? A lot. Like, I was ridiculously drunk. And I went to our apartment, looking for you, and when you weren't there, I went to your old apartment to ee if you were hanging around there. It turns out that Gi-.... he was drinking too. And he was super drunk. I didn't do this because I don't love you, Danni. I made a stupid mistake. Him and I both did. I didn't do it to make you angry. I couldn't even walk straight. But, I'm not justifying my actions with the fact that I was drinking because what I did was so extremely wrong." Roxy paused for a second. This was extremely difficult for her to do. "I just...I love you so much, Danni. I really really do. I've never met anyone before in my whole life that makes me feel as safe as you do. I just... I haven't been able to do anything. I haven't been able to write music, or play music, or take a decent picture, and I've barely been able to eat. I didn't mean to hurt you, Danni. At all." Roxy didn't know what else to say to him. She knew this wasn't going to be fixed right then and there. Roxy's voice was soft, and she barely managed to keep back tears.

Whether Roxy knew or not, Danni was one of those people that needed others to trust, when he had no one else to trust...well he started getting really nervy and suspicious all the time. And the fact that not only she had done this, but that Giovanni had basically killed their relationship,...meant that he didn't have anyone that he trusted. There was the cat, but she wasn't quite enough. Blood to some vampires was like a drug that you needed to stay alive, but if you over did it, your cravings got a hell of a lot worse very quickly. He might have still felt more disorientated than usual, with emotions flickering between numb to hysterical to angry to numb again, but he could tell that he was starting to get hungry again.
Danni glanced up briefly as she started to talk, thinking about saying something, before remembering he was supposed to be silent whilst she talked. A couple of times he nearly said something, but at the last minute managed to stop himself, more through politeness than anything else. Although he didn't really agree with anything she said, well maybe some stuff he thought about it more, he didn't mouth off to her about how shitty she was. Screaming obscenities probably wouldn't help things. There was one thing though. He hadn't known that he made her feel safe, though considering his mood swings, that was probably an on off thing which he couldn't blame her for.
He felt like muttering 'boo hoo' sarcastically as she explained what she hadn't been able to do whilst feeling so guilty about this. Keeping a control on his temper and his hysteria was a bit like constantly trying to catch a swinging chain. Pretty much every time you could catch it if you were concentrating, but every so often you missed, and it kept swinging. As he started to lose just a little bit of control he let his breath come out in shivers, the way someone breathes when they're probably about to cry. I don't know what to say to her. I love her but I can't just forget this, god knows she wouldn't if it were the other way round. He moved his hands back from the table around the hot coffee, pulling the fashionably tatty jacket sleeves over his warm fingers, resisting the urge to hug himself by letting his arms lap limp in his lap.
"I don't know what to do anymore." He said softly, half to himself, sounding like he was giving up. Maybe just forgetting about this would be better, then at least he wouldn't have to try and figure out how to make it all right. He could forget Roxy's part in all this, if he really tried, but Giovanni would be another matter. The entirely possessive male side of him would have to forgive his maker, and that wasn't a side that was easy to control.
Roxy watched Danni as she talked, watching his facial expressions change, and she could tell that he had definite mood swings about what she was saying. It almost stopped her from saying what she was saying, but she kept going.
As Danni said he didn't know what to do, Roxy agreed in her head that she didn't either. She knew that he took her there to talk, but she was doing all of the talking. Roxy thought about the situation; everything that had caused a rift between them in their relationship was caused by her. She was the one who went out with Lestat, she was the one who bitched him out for no reason, and she was the one who slept with Giovanni. Everything was her fault. Before she could stop herself, Roxy began talking again, the feelings of what she was thinking about seeping into her words. "Maybe we should just take a break or something. I need to...think. And I'm guessing you do too," she said, sitting back in her chair and looking at her, her fingers lacing together in her lap.
After she said it, Roxy thought about whats he said. Had she just broken up with him? Oh god. She did. Twenty bucks says that he takes it the wrong way and thinks that she's doing it so she can be with Giovanni. Roxy didn't dare let any of this play across her face, and she'd sealed her mind off long ago, so she timidly sat there, waiting for a reaction.
He just couldn't find the will to start talking again, trying to think through all of this had been hard enough. Danni breathed in carefully, letting it out again after a moment as shivered breaths out, listening as she started talking again. He had been expecting her to maybe start saying that it wasn't her fault, or something to that effect, when she basically said that they needed some time apart. They had just spent the last three weeks apart, so what good would another while do? Or maybe she meant permanently but didn't really want to say that in case she changed her mind. At this point he really had no idea.
Danni didn't even bother to look up, god knows he wouldn't be able to think as well if he were looking at her. He could feel practically every emotion that she held on the surface, well aware of the timidness about her right now. His shoulders tensed as he thought about being angry with her, or with his maker for what had happened, what she seemed to want. Right now he looked fragile but tense enough to just snap if that was what happened. Then suddenly his shoulders dropped, the tension gone, and he sighed almost inaudibly. "Yeah I guess so." He replied in a voice that was so quiet and soft it was almost a whisper.
He thought about walking out maybe, leaving the cafe', he wasn't going to drink the coffee in front of him anyway. But then maybe she would think he was abandoning her again, even though he wouldn't be. God this was so confusing. After another few silent moments, he looked up at her for a moment, careful not to lose the composure he had managed to conjure up so far.
Roxy was tense as she waited for a reaction from him, but the moment that he agreed with her, Roxy's body seemingly gave up. She slumped slightly, letting out a silent, shaky sigh. She wanted him to disagree with her so bad, saying that they could possibly work it out without breaking up. Had they technically broken up? Roxy thought so.
Roxy wanted to cry so bad, but she just couldn't. Not there, not with their given situation. She'd wait until she got home, wherever that was for her. Most likely back in Danni's old bedroom. She could feel Danni's eyes on her as she stared down in her lap. Roxy leaned forward, elbows on the table, head in her hands. If she didn't cry soon, she was going to lose it. Roxy had to calm herself down, but she just couldn't. Soon enough, a few tears were soaking into the material of her sweatshirt, which was covering her eyes.
She wanted to tell him that it was her fault, not Giovanni's. He was the one who said that they shouldn't, and Roxy was the one who told him to stop talking, and she was the one who started kissing him. God. She couldn't tell her, but she knew that she was destroying a friendship that was centuries old.
Danni almost lost it as she started crying on the other side of the table, he didn't know what to do about it. He sat there silent for a minute or so, considering things, when he shifted a little bit in his seat. "I'll...text or something in a couple of days." He told her softly, getting up off of the stool and leaving, knowing that his emotions would break down into hysterics if he stayed for much longer. Hugging himself tightly, he went out into the cold again, just wandering, not even really knowing where he was going.
Roxy didn't watch Danni leave, she couldn't. If she had watched him walk away from her, she would've gotten hysterical. Waiting a few minutes, Roxy got up and slowly calmed herself down, leaving the cafe to go back to Giovanni's apartment and officially lose it.
